The Vanderbilt women's basketball team (19-10, 9-7 SEC) has earned the seven seed for next weeks SEC Women's Basketball Tournament and will open with tenth-seeded Missouri (17-13, 6-10). The game will be at 5:00 p.m. CT on Thursday, March 7, at The Arena at Gwinnett in Duluth, Ga.
The winner of the contest between Missouri and Vanderbilt will advance to the quarterfinals to face second-seeded Kentucky on Friday, March 8, also at 5 p.m. CT. All of the action from the SEC Tournament on Thursday and Friday can be seen on SportSouth.
Vanderbilt and Missouri met on February 14 in Nashville, with the Commodores taking a 62-46 win behind 18 points from Jasmine Lister. Elan Brown (13 points), Heather Bowe (11 points) and Jasmine Jenkins (10 points) joined Lister in double figures. Missouri was led by 20 points and seven rebounds from Sydney Crafton.
The tournament opens on Wednesday, March 6, when Mississippi State faces Alabama. Ole Miss, who finished 14th in the league, will not participate due to a self-imposed postseason ban, meaning the 11-seed also received a bye.
Tennessee won the regular season championship and received a bye to the quarterfinals along with Kentucky, Georgia and Texas A&M.
In addition to the Vanderbilt-Missouri game, Thursday's action will include Arkansas vs. Florida (11 a.m.), Mississippi State/Alabama vs. South Carolina (1:30 p.m.) and Auburn vs. LSU (7:30 p.m.).
