Webb's Vanderbilt Bio
NASHVILLE– Recent Vanderbilt women’s basketball graduate Marqu’es Webb will start her professional basketball career in the Czech Republic. The 2017 Vanderbilt graduate will play for Spolek Basketbalovy Klub Lokomotiva Karlovy Vary, in the top Czech league for women.
Commodore fans will remember Webb as a rebounding machine, who averaged 9.1 rebounds per game her senior year and concluded her career with 875 career points. Throughout her career, Webb amassed 703 rebounds and shot nearly 56 percent from the floor. The Alabama native was a preseason second team All-SEC selection prior to her senior year.
Webb was not only a key part of Vanderbilt women’s basketball on the floor but also in the classroom and off the court. Webb was elected as chair of the SEC’s inaugural women’s basketball leadership council and was an SEC Academic Honor Roll selection.
Through a press release from her agent, Matthew Krejci, Webb said the following about signing her contract.
“Excited would be an understatement as to how I feel to continue my playing career and achieve my goal of playing professionally! It’s been quite a journey, but everything happens for a reason and I am grateful for this opportunity. I’m ready and prepared to work as hard as possible to do whatever it takes to compete and help my team”
Webb’s team currently sits in ninth place in the standings and is looking to improve their position for the playoffs which begin in late March.
