    A season-high 8,511 fans piled into historic Memorial Gymnasium on Sunday, giving the Commodores a much-needed lift against the feisty Lady Gators. All tickets were only $1 and fans were treated to numerous family-friendly activities -- including a mascot basketball game that featured a number of local teams were represented, including the Titans, Sounds, Predators and Kats.Following the game, players and staff stayed over an hour to host a post-game clinic and sign hundreds of autographs.

    No Free Throw Woes
    The Southeastern Conference's best free throw shooting team was back in form on Sunday. Vanderbilt won its Thursday contest at South Carolina despite shooting under 50% from the line for the first time all season. Against Florida, the Commodores hit 22-of-28 free throws (78.3%), including 15-of-16 at one stretch during the second half. Senior Caroline Williams leads the team in free throw percentage, connecting on 30-of-32 this season, including her last 14 attempts. Carla Thomas and Dee Davis rank in Vanderbilt's all-time top five in free-throw percentage. Seven Commodores are shooting better than 75% from the charity stripe.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Christina Wirth scored 20 points to lead No. 14 Vanderbilt to an 82-69 comeback victory over Florida on Sunday.

    The Commodores (16-2, 2-1 Southeastern Conference) made only six of their first 25 shots and shot 36.7 percent from the field in the first half, helping the Gators to a 33-28 halftime advantage.

    Wirth scored 12 points in the second half and sparked an 11-0 Vanderbilt run that led to a 44-40 lead. It was the Commodores' first lead since holding a 3-2 advantage.

    Florida made a final charge when Sha Brooks scored a basket and added a free throw with 3:08 remaining, cutting the lead to 68-62.

    Liz Sherwood answered with a put-back basket, and the Commodores made six consecutive free throws, keeping Vanderbilt ahead 75-62 with 1:11 left.

    Depree Bowden led Florida (6-12, 0-3) with 26 points.
