- The two days before the National Letter Day (Feb. 2) are dead periods for recruiters, meaning coaches cannot be on the road. How did James Franklin spend part of his Monday night off the road? By personally visiting nearly every fraternity on campus, getting standing ovations everywhere. He will hit the sororities and many other student and staff groups as soon as his 18-hour days allow.
- Speaking of James Franklin, I believe it is fair to say that his staff's remarkable recruiting efforts in just a few weeks offers tangible evidence that things are changing on West End. - Oklahoma and Oklahoma State have the Bedlam Series. Oregon and Oregon State have the Civil War. Michigan and Minnesota play for the Little Brown Jug in football. Our marketing partner, IMG College, is working with its colleagues at the University of Tennessee to develop a name and trophy idea for our rivalry. Right now the idea is to encompass football, basketball and baseball but possibly to include each and every varsity sport team in which we play head-to-head. We would like your ideas; please go to the Suggestion Box on the front page of our web site and send in your thoughts. Be nice, we are serious about this!
