Friday Schedule

The Vanderbilt men's tennis program will kick off its fall season this weekend by hosting a seven-team field at the Commodore Scramble. First serve is scheduled for 9 a.m. each morning.

The tournament field includes fellow SEC programs Alabama, Auburn and LSU, along with Furman, Lipscomb and Louisville.

Vanderbilt's 2017-18 squad returns nine players from a season ago, including the trio of Cameron Klinger, Baker Newman and Daniel Valent - all of whom are ranked in the Oracle/ITA Preseason Singles Rankings. Valent advanced to the NCAA Tournament Round of 32 a season ago with a 21-16 overall record, while Klinger earned All-SEC Second Team honors and was in the midst of a 24-6 campaign before a knee injury prematurely ended his 2016-17 season.

The Commodores will also welcome three newcomers into the fold for the 2017-18 season. Freshmen Maxwell Freeman (Ashland, Mass.), George Harwell (Nashville, Tenn.) and Adam Sraberg (Los Angeles, Calif.) are all slated to make their first appearances for the black and gold this weekend.
