ATHENS, Ga. --
Junior Daniel Valent will represent the Vanderbilt men's tennis team this week in the final event of the 2017 season, the NCAA Singles Tournament.

Hosted by the University of Georgia May 24-29, the Zurich, Switzerland native is slated to take on Columbia's 57th-ranked Victor Pham tomorrow at 2 p.m. CT in his second consecutive appearance in the NCAA singles tournament.

Boasting a 12-11 (5-7) record at the No. 1 spot in the Vanderbilt lineup, No. 43 Valent has faced some of the toughest competitors in the nation in preparation for the final event of the year. Throughout his junior season, Valent earned seven Oracle/ITA ranked wins including a victory over Kentucky's then-No. 14 Will Bushamuka and two wins against No. 27 Mazen Osmama.

Last season, the Commodore fell to Florida State's 11th-ranked Benjamin Lock in the first round, and looks to improve off his debut performance.
