NASHVILLE – Vanderbilt men’s and women’s tennis will be represented in the 2013 NCAA Individual Championships beginning Wednesday, May 22, in Urbana, Ill.
Automatic qualification into the Division I doubles championships is awarded to any conference with one or more eligible doubles teams ranked in the ITA Top 60 for eligible/entered doubles teams. For conferences with more than one doubles team within the ITA Top 60 eligible/entered doubles teams, the subcommittee applies the NCAA selection criteria to determine which doubles team is the automatic qualifier from those conferences. All doubles teams must have a minimum of 10 completed doubles matches, with five matches in the spring, in order to be selected as an automatic qualifier or an at-large selection.
Colton and Mira, who are ranked No. 12 in the most recent ITA doubles rankings, will take on Texas Tech’s doubles team of Samantha Adams and Kenna Kilgo on Thursday, May 23. Times have yet to be announced.
This is the second-straight doubles selection for Mira. The Baton Rouge, La., native advanced to the round of 16 last season.

For conferences with more than one singles player within the ITA Top 125 eligible/entered singles players, the subcommittee applies the NCAA selection criteria to determine which student-athlete is the automatic qualifier from those conferences. All singles players must have a minimum of 13 completed singles matches in order to be selected as an automatic qualifier or an at-large selection.
In first round action, Austin will face off against Clemson’s Yannick Maden at 3 p.m. CT Wednesday. Lipman takes on Virginia’s Mac Styslinger at 4 p.m. CT.
Lipman is currently ranked No. 10 in the ITA singles rankings and leads the team with an overall singles record of 30-10. Austin is ranked No. 48 and was an All-SEC First Team selection along with Lipman. This marks the third selection to the NCAA Singles Championship for Lipman and first for Austin.
Winners will advance to the second round on Thursday.
