Feb. 1, 2014
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The No. 21 Vanderbilt men's tennis team continues play Sunday with a dual match against No. 29 Northwestern. The match is set for noon at the Currey Tennis Center.
Vanderbilt (3-1) is coming off a weekend, in which they went 1-1, hosting the ITA Kick-off. The `Dores lost to eventual region champ, No. 20 Texas 4-0, and then knocked off No. 23 LSU, 4-1.
Northwestern (4-1) has two wins this year over ranked opponents; No. 46 Boise State and No. 24 Tulsa. The Wildcats only loss of the season came at the hands of No. 9 Oklahoma.
The two like-minded schools meet for the fifth-straight year, with Vandy holding a 4-0 advantage of the last four meetings. Despite not losing to the Wildcats in the last four match ups, it has been much closer than it appears, with each of the last three decisions being decided 4-3.
Northwestern comes to Nashville with only one player ranked in the ITA national rankings. NU's Sam Shropshire, is ranked No. 114 and has wins at No.1 and No. 3 so far in the dual season.
