`Dores ranked in first poll of 2011

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – In the first Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings of 2011, Vanderbilt is among 10 SEC teams ranked in the top 50. Coming off a 13-11 mark in 2010, the Commodores open the spring season ranked No. 39 in the nation. Virginia leads the poll, followed by Southern Cal, Tennessee, Ohio State and Texas.

Ryan Lipman, who had a standout rookie season that ended with him being named the Co-SEC Freshman of the Year, opens his sophomore campaign ranked at No. 43. In the fall season, Lipman recorded a 10-5 mark, which included wins in the D’Novo/ITA All-American Championship, the ITA Ohio Valley Regional and the ITA National Indoor Championship.

The Commodores open the spring season hosting Tennessee Tech and Lipscomb in a double header at the Currey Tennis Center on January 22.
