    Jan. 3, 2013

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt men’s tennis is ranked No. 37 in the latest ITA Rankings that came out Thursday afternoon.

Vanderbilt also has two Commodores ranked in the top 20 in the men’s national singles rankings. No. 17 Ryan Lipman and No. 20 Gonzales Austin will look to lead a young, talented squad into the spring season, which begins Jan. 18 versus Butler.

The two Commodores are among eight players from the SEC in the top 20.

Freshman Kris Yee is the third Commodore to make the singles rankings, as he is tied at No. 114.

Lipman finished the fall season with a 10-4 singles record, while also winning the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Singles Championship to earn an automatic bid to New York for the ITA National Indoor Tournament.

Austin wrapped up the fall with a 9-3 singles record. The Miami, Fla., native made it to the semifinals of the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional where he fell to teammate, Ryan Lipman.

Yee finished his first semester on campus with a 5-3 fall record in singles play.

Vandy kicks off the spring season with two home duals versus Butler (Jan. 18) and Michigan State (Jan. 20) at the Currey Tennis Center.
