Austin, Lipman play in Saturday's quarters

NASHVILLE, Tenn.. - The Vanderbilt men's tennis team wrapped up it's second day of action at the SEC Fall Classic, going 4-7 in singles play and 1-1 in doubles action. Gonzales Austin advanced to the quarterfinals in both singles and doubles, with partner Ryan Lipman.
In the consolation round, Suresh Eswaran will play Thiago Pinheiro of South Carolina in the third round.
The Commodores opened the day with a Lipman/Austin win over Parlic/Thomasen of Arkansas, 8-5. The duo will play Simpson/Arias of LSU at 9:00 a.m., on Saturday morning.
Austin was able to keep the winning ways going in the singles third and fourth round, winning 6-4, 6-1, over Wilder of Ole Miss and winning 6-2, 6-2, over Lukas Ollert of Auburn. He now advances to the quarterfinals and will face Austin Smith of Georgia. This will be the second time in a week that Austin and Smith will face-off. The two went head-to-head at the Southern Collegiates with Smith getting the advantage, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
Johnson gave top-seeded Tom Jomby trouble, however he was unable to close it out in the third set, losing 7-6(5), 3-6, 7-6(2). Yee faced nine through sixteen seed Shane Vinsant of Texas A&M, falling 4-6, 6-1, 6-2.
