Jamie Hunt enters his sixth season at Vanderbilt, and second as associate head coach.

In his fifth season with the ‘Dores Hunt helped led the Commodores to their best SEC record (8-3) in over a decade. Hunt’s recruiting abilities paidoff in ten-fold as VU signed the 5th best class in the country.

With the leadership and guidance of Hunt, Vanderbilt capped its 2014 season ranked No. 20 by the ITA. The Commodores compiled an 17-11 overall record, and 5-7 mark in SEC play. The Commodores hosted NCAA Regionals for the second year in a row and advanced to the second round. Vanderbilt also hosted the SEC Tournament, advancing to the semifinals for the first time since 2004.

The `Dores finished their 2013 campaign ranked 15th by the ITA with a record of 18-11, along with making an appearance in the NCAA Sweet 16.

Hunt came to Vanderbilt after spending four years as a member of the University of Georgia tennis team. During his tenure, he tallied 116 overall wins, while only dropping 34 matches. He was also an integral a part of back-to-back NCAA Championship teams.

In his senior campaign, Hunt compiled a 22-9 singles record with a dual match record of 17-5. He earned second-team All-SEC honors, making it the fourth conference recognition of his career. During the 2008-09 season, he and teammate Nate Schnugg reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA doubles tournament, achieving ITA All-American status.

“I am extremely excited to have Jamie on our staff,” Coach Duvenhage said. “I have long respected the way he competes and conducts himself. As a member of two national championship teams he brings the experience of being a champion to Vanderbilt University and the men’s tennis program.”

Hunt was instrumental in Georgia’s most recent NCAA Championships, winning his doubles match in 2007 and his singles match in 2008. He and Schnugg teamed up in 2006 and won the U.S. Open Junior Doubles Championship.

Hunt was the recipient of several awards, including the Mike Sell Return of Serve Award, the Manuel Diaz Approach Shot Award and the Bonneau Ansley Men’s Tennis Scholarship. He was also the Southeast Region recipient of the ITA/Arthur Ashe Award for Leadership and Sportsmanship.

Originally from San Antonio, Texas, Hunt was he only junior player in history to win the Easter Bowl Doubles in the boys 14’s, 16’s and 18’s. He also earned ITF World Junior rankings as high as No. 2 in doubles and No. 26 in singles.

Jamie is married to Kyndal Edwards Hunt. The couple are the proud parents of one daughter, Blakely.
