The Vanderbilt men’s golf team continues their fall season this Sunday through Tuesday at the Nike Collegiate Invitational in Portland, Oregon, against some of the nation’s top competition at Pumpkin Ridge Country Club’s Witch Hollow Course.
The NCI, won by the Commodores in 2016, was named the number-one ranked event in college golf last year, which took place at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. This year, the tournament will be held at the Witch Hollow Course, the home of the 2017 Web.com’s WinCo Foods Portland Open presented by Kraft-Heinz which took place this past August.
This year’s field will feature the #12 Commodores, Clemson, #7 Oklahoma, Stanford, #3 Wake Forest, Oregon, #17 Duke, TCU, Arizona, Florida, #20 Texas, #23 USC, Georgia, Washington, and Ohio State.
Vanderbilt will send seniors Michael Decker and Theo Humphrey, juniors Will Gordon and Patrick Martin, and sophomore John Augenstein to compete in the event at Witch Hollow.
“This is one of the best, if not the best, tournament in college golf each season,” said Vanderbilt head coach Scott Limbaugh. “It always gives you a good idea of who you are and where you need to get to as a team. You only get a handful of opportunities like this during the regular season and that should be exciting for our guys. We have talked about having a little better commitment to doing the little details better than we have the previous two events. I believe in this group and I am really excited to watch them compete.”
The tournament begins Sunday morning with live results found on Golfstat.com for the event.
