Senior Theo Humphrey and junior Will Gordon each advanced to the match play portion of the U.S. Amateur at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, Calif., after finishing in the top 64 of the 36-hole stroke-play portion of the tournament on Tuesday. Humphrey finished in a tie for third out of 312 of the world’s top amateurs after posting a four-under par, 136, on Monday and Tuesday, while Gordon shot an even-par, 140, to finish in a tie for 19th on the stroke-play leaderboard.
Both will compete in the round of 64 Wednesday, with FS1 picking up television coverage from 4-7 CT from Riviera.
Wednesday will mark the first round of match play, which will then cut the field to 32 players. Those advancing will play two matches on Thursday to advance to the quarterfinal round of match play on Friday. Play will continue with the semifinal round on Saturday and the 36-hole final on Sunday.
Live coverage of the U.S. Amateur will be televised by FS1 and Fox, in addition to a live stream through USGA.org.
