Vanderbilt junior Hunter Stewart fired a six-under par, 137, at the Colonial Country Club in Memphis, Tenn., on Monday and survived a five-man playoff to advance to the 2014 U.S. Open in Pinehurst, N.C., on June 12-15 at Pinehurst #2.
Stewart finishes his two rounds Monday and was tied with five other golfers for two spots in the U.S. Open. After Brady Watt made birdie on the first playoff hole to claim the first spot, Stewart made a 15-foot birdie putt on the second playoff hole to claim the other spot. Monday's field at Colonial featured 145 players that were vying for 13 spots.
Stewart will join former Vanderbilt star Brandt Snedeker at this year's festivities in Pinehurst.
