The Commodores have been selected to participate in the San Antonio Regional May 15-17 at the Briggs Ranch Golf Course in an event hosted by the University of Texas-San Antonio, their second consecutive regional appearance under head coach Scott Limbaugh. Vanderbilt will be the number four seed in the regional.
The Commodores' selection marks the third time the program has appeared in consecutive regionals. Vanderbilt also made back-to-back appearances in 2009 and 2010 and made three consecutive regionals from 2003-2005.
Vanderbilt will compete with Georgia, UCF, UCLA, South Florida, SMU, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, TCU, Northwestern, College of Charleston, VCU, and Columbia.
"We are really excited about earning a postseason birth," said Limbaugh. "San Antonio is exactly where we wanted to go. We understand the challenge that we have with such a strong field, but our guys will embrace that."
The Briggs Ranch Golf Club will be set up as a par-72, 7,247-yard format for the tournament, and the Commodores will tee off with #5-seed South Florida and #6-seed SMU at 8:20 a.m. CT off of the 10th tee on Thursday. Eighteen holes will be played Thursday through Saturday, with live scoring found at Golfstat.com throughout the weekend.
Thirteen teams were selected to three regional sites and 14 were selected in three others, with the top five teams from each regional advancing to the NCAA Championship, which takes place May 23 through May 28 at the Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kansas. Additionally, the top individual not affiliated with a qualifying team in the six regionals will also advance to the finals at Prairie Dunes.
