Stewart shoots first-round 75 at RBC Heritage
April 17, 2014
Vanderbilt junior golfer Hunter Stewart shot a first-round 75 in his first ever PGA Tour round at the RBC Heritage Thursday at the Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head, S.C., and is in a tie for 92nd on the leader board heading into the second round on Friday.
Stewart, who earned an exemption over the summer after winning The Players Amateur, came out of the gate strong, chipping in for birdie on one and then making a seven-foot birdie putt on two to push his total to two-under par. He gave a shot back with a bogey on four, but was one-under through 10 holes.
The back nine were not as friendly for the junior from Lexington, Ky., as he carded bogeys on 11, 12, 16, and 18. Stewart missed the fairway on his tee shot on three of the four holes and could not salvage 11 to 18 foot par putts on each of the four holes.
Stewart will tee off from the number 10 tee on Friday at 9 a.m. ET, and will once again play with Andrew Loupe and Mark Anderson.
