Vanderbilt junior Hunter Stewart gets his first taste of the PGA Tour beginning this Thursday when he tees it up at the RBC Heritage in Hilton Head, S.C., at the Harbour Town Golf Links.
Stewart earned an exemption into this weekend's event after winning The Players Amateur this summer in Bluffton, S.C. The RBC Heritage and The Players Amateur have had a longstanding relationship, with the winner of The Players playing in every RBC Heritage for the last 15 years.
Stewart will tee off at 1:30 ET from the number one tee on Thursday, and at 9 a.m. on Friday off of number 10.
Vanderbilt head coach Scott Limbaugh sees nothing but positives for Stewart and his experience this weekend.
"I think it's exciting for Hunter and for our program that he has this opportunity," said Limbaugh. "It will be a great experience for him to play alongside some of the best players in the world and hopefully he will gain valuable experience heading into postseason play. Hunter is a great young man and he embodies what we want Vanderbilt Golf to be about."
Television coverage of the event begins at 3 p.m. ET on The Golf Channel on Thursday and Friday, with extended coverage planned on Saturday and Sunday beginning at 1 p.m. ET on The Golf Channel. CBS begins their annual telecast from Harbour Town at 3 p.m. ET.
"I'm going to be nervous," Stewart told the Tennessean on Wednesday. "It's my first tour event. It would be naïve to say it's not going to happen. But it's not about being nervous. I've been in pressure situations before, coming down the stretch of tournaments (at Vanderbilt). You have to know your tendencies and how to handle your feelings."
