The 17th-ranked Vanderbilt men's golf team travels to Mobile, Ala., this Monday and Tuesday to play in the 2013 Mobile Bay Intercollegiate as they open their spring season. The Commodores will compete with 15 other teams at the Magnolia Grove Crossings Golf Course in Mobile, which will be set up as a par 72, 7,212 yard format.
“I can tell that our guys are really excited to have the opportunity to compete in a golf tournament," said Vanderbilt head coach Scott Limbaugh. "After a long break it is always fun and exciting to get back out on the course.”
The Commodores will send sophomore Hunter Stewart, sophomore Ben Fogler, junior Charlie Ewing, sophomore Jordan Janico, and freshman Zack Jaworski. Freshman Will Snipes will compete in the USA Individual Tournament at the same time. It will include two rounds on the Magnolia Grove Falls Golf Course (par 71, 7,158 yards), one Monday morning and one Tuesday.
“We have had about a month of good practice," said Limbaugh. "I have challenged the guys to stay focused on controlling the things we can control. That consists of our effort, our mindset every single day and just overall consistency in everything we do. As a team we want to continue to work to get better every single day. This team had some success in the fall because I felt the guys did that and we want to work to sustain that success this spring.”
