The Tennessee Sportswriters Association has named junior safety Kenny Ladler the Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against No. 9 South Carolina last week.

Starting his 15th career game, Ladler made nine tackles and intercepted a pass in the Commodores season opener. Ladler's nine stops, including eight solo tackles, were the second most on the team. He was one of three Dores to post sacks on the night with his first career sack. The Stone Mountain, Ga. native helped the Vanderbilt defense hold the Gamecocks to 262 yards of total offense and force two turnovers.

The Commodores return to action this weekend at Northwestern with game time set for 7 p.m. on the Big Ten Network. Vanderbilt welcomes Presbyterian to Nashville September 15 in the Dores' next home game. For ticket information call 615.322.GOLD or click here.
