Vanderbilt and Western Kentucky have agreed to a three-year football series beginning in 2015, Director of Athletics David Williams announced today.
The Commodores will host the Hilltoppers Sept. 12, 2015 and again on Nov. 4, 2017 while Western Kentucky will host on Sept. 24, 2016.
"This series is a good idea for several reasons," Williams said. "We are already playing several other nearby institutions and Western is only an hour up the road for the fan bases of both schools. And in this era of escalating travel costs and game expenses, it makes sense to stay at or near home when the opportunity arises."
The two schools have not met on the gridiron since 1938. Vanderbilt leads the all-time series, 3-0. There were also two junior varsity games played in 1921 and 1922, both won by Vanderbilt.
