Watch Highlight

Vanderbilt entered its game at Ole Miss one win shy of securing bowl eligibility, and early in the third quarter of its game against the Rebels, it appeared the Commodores would leave Oxford, Miss., still with five wins.

The Commodores trailed by as many as 17 points in the third quarter, but instead of packing it in, Vanderbilt kept fighting and embarked on a furious comeback.

Jordan Rodgers connected with Jordan Matthews for a 52-yard touchdown to pull the Commodores within 10. Wesley Tate then scored from two yards out to cut Ole Miss' lead to three, 23-20.

The Rebels added a field goal with 2:43 to play to increase their lead to six points, 26-20. But the Commodores were not through.

Led by Rodgers, the Commodores marched up the field from their own 21-yard line to the Ole Miss 26-yard line as the clock ticked below one minute following a 21-yard completion to Kris Kentera.

On the very next play, Rodgers fired a 26-yard touchdown pass to Boyd with just 52 seconds to play. Following an extra point by Carey Spear, the Commodores led, 27-26. Vanderbilt's defense would hold on Ole Miss' final possession and Vanderbilt had its sixth win of the season.

In His Words
Boyd Breaks it Down

The Safety was Late: First, I saw how the corner was playing me. He kind of gave me singular coverage on the play before that, so it was kind of a Cover 2 look but the safety didn't get off the hash to play the deep half. He was supposed to be guarding the deep half, but he didn't get off. I got past the corner pretty clean which made it easy for me to get open. J-Rog put it in a perfect place in the hole and I just did the rest. It was pretty easy from there.

I Knew it was Over: When I get past the corner and I see there is no one in front of me, I knew they messed up. That's when I knew it was over. After I caught it I was kind of in shock. I was like, 'dang, I just caught that.'

Holding his Breath: I turned around and saw the flag and was like, 'uh-oh, I hope they don't bring it back.' I didn't know if I should celebrate or not because I didn't know what the penalty was for; I just saw the flag on the ground.

Adjusting the Route: It was supposed to be a short route, but since the corner just sat there, I just ran right past him. I was supposed to run a 10-yard turnaround, but when I got past him and saw nobody was there, I just kept going.

What a Feeling: It was a great feeling to go into an environment like Ole Miss and get the win. The fact that we could win an SEC game on the road to help us get to a bowl game was just amazing, especially the way we did it. We played terrible in the first half. The second half we started playing better and we knew we had one drive and one chance. We just executed.
