Dores put in quality work Friday

Aug. 11, 2017

Vanderbilt staged practice No. 11 on Friday afternoon working for approximately 70 minutes in preparation for tomorrow's scrimmage.

The team worked on situational scenarios again during the session spending time working on goal line plays before moving into third down, two-minute and end of half/game plays. Kyle Shurmur moved the offense down the field in the two-minute drill, completing 4-of-5 passes with Andre Mintze knocking down the fifth one at the line of scrimmage. The junior QB completed passes to four different receivers on the drive, including a pass to Dallas Rivers to open the drive and a well-placed toss to CJ Duncan on a curl route. Jackson Winrow climbed the ladder to snag a pass over the middle. Senior Nifae Lealao crashed the offense's party by breaking free up the middle to record a sack near the end of the drill.

Quick Hits
  • Freshman Tae Daley made a nice play early in team drills, knocking a ball lose for a fumble the defense recovered.
  • Freshman QB Deuce Wallace found TE Sam Dobbs down the sideline for a big gain in 7-on-7 drills, perfectly placing the ball in between two defenders.
