If Commodore players are anticipating the start of preseason camp as much as their new head coach, it should be quite an August on the Vanderbilt campus.
After three decades watching coaches guide their team's preseason drills, Head Coach Robbie Caldwell gets a chance starting Friday evening to add his own touch to the summer football ritual.
"I'm so excited. I've been involved 30-something years (as a coach)," Caldwell said. "To actually plan one is awfully exciting. I can't wait and I think our players and fans feel like the same way."
As the Commodores prepare to start four weeks of drills gearing for the Sept. 4 opener against Northwestern, here's some fun camp facts:
1 First preseason camp directed by Vanderbilt head coach Robbie Caldwell.
2 Practices open to the public: Sunday, Aug. 8 (4:15 p.m.) and Monday, Aug. 9 (6 p.m.)
3 Total amount of Two-a-Day sessions slated. The first should come Monday, Aug. 16
4 Scholarship quarterbacks on roster
