Summer Q & A: Reshard Langford
Aug. 1, 2007
What have you been up to this summer?
I've been in Nashville since May 16 training for the season and have been working hard to be prepared for fall practice.
What are some of the things you're doing to prepare yourself?
I've been working on my hips and back peddling. Just trying to stay low and improve my skills by working on fundamentals. One thing I've practiced is working on my hands by catching balls from the Jugs machine. The team has also been able to help the incoming freshman prepare for practice.
What does it mean to you to be a leader?
It means a lot to me to have the opportunity to be a leader on this team. I was a leader in high school and look forward to serving as a role model for our incoming guys at the collegiate level. I want to set a positive example, so anything I can do to lead things in the right direction, I'll do. We've been preaching going to a bowl game all summer so that's the attitude on the team right now.
What's it like to deliver a big hit in a game?
Making big hits was one of my biggest joys on the field until I recorded my first interception. Big hits are good every now and then, but if I can get an interception, that's what I want. I'd like to score a touchdown this year.
What do you do to relax?
We have team night every Tuesday. A bunch of us go bowling. It's a lot of fun plus it's relaxing. I'm okay at bowling, but am getting better. George Smith taught me how to spin the ball down the lanes. My highest game is a 224. Right after that, Chris Williams came back and beat my score by rolling a 226. Overall, we have some decent bowlers on the team. In addition to Chris, DJ Moore is also pretty good.
How much does the secondary unit bond off the field?
All of us get along off the field but also the entire team bonds together. As a whole, I can hang out with anyone on offense or defense and it's been cool.
What's the big difference between your first year and this year as a player?
Compared to my first year, when I was able to learn how things worked, I just think I'm more knowledgeable of the game and can relax now thanks to our coaching staff."
Seen any movies this summer?
I saw Transformers and enjoyed it. I had some of their action figures when I was younger.
What music have you been listening to lately?
"I've been listening to a lot of oldies on 92Q when I'm going back and forth from school and work. I also picked up T.I.'s latest album."
Tell us something Commodore fans don't know about you.
I like electronics -- computers, my ipod, pretty much anything I can get my hands on to mess with. Lately, I've been trying to hook up my computer up to my television. I haven't done it yet, but am going to figure it out."
How excited are you about getting the season started?
Real excited. I was talking to [Jonathan] Goff the other day and we realized we have only 30 days until the Richmond game. We aren't satisfied with where we're at and still have a lot of work to do until that game. I am looking forward to the challenges at fall camp.
