Franklin to gather with fans in Birmingham

Franklin will be introduced to the Birmingham Vanderbilt Chapter Thursday

New Vanderbilt Head Coach James Franklin is gathering with Commodore followers Thursday in Birmingham, just hours before he speaks to hundreds of writers attending Southeastern Conference Media Days.

Franklin will be introduced to the Birmingham Vanderbilt Chapter during a two-hour reception Thursday at Out Takes/DiGiorgio's Restaurant in the Homewood suburb community. Franklin is expected to briefly address the Birmingham chapter members and answer questions on the upcoming season at the event, which starts at 6 p.m.

Hors d'oeuvres and drinks will be served. The cost is $20 per person.

Franklin and three Commodore standouts - senior linebacker Chris Marve, senior cornerback Casey Hayward and senior quarterback Larry Smith, are scheduled to represent Vanderbilt at SEC Media Days the next day.
