Tuesday: Laying the turf | Thursday: Turf Removal

Less than a week after the first piece of old sod was removed from Vanderbilt Stadium, the final piece of new sod was put into place at the stadium at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

After laying the final piece of sod and cutting the edges of it to make it fit along the sideline, the workers began going through each row on their hands and knees, picking up loose pieces of grass and checking the seams of each row.

Workers will return to the field Thursday morning to finish cleaning up and will come back in approximately a week to add a final top dressing and roll the field. In the meantime, there will be lots of watering to ensure the grass takes root.
