NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt wide receiver Jordan Matthews has been named to the 2013 College Football Performance Awards Wide Receiver Trophy Watch list, it was recently announced as part of the 2013 CFPA Offensive Awards Watch List.
Matthews, from Madison, Ala., enters his final season as a serious candidate for the Biletnikoff Award, given annually to the nation's leading receiver. Matthews is coming off a sensational season when he registered 94 catches for 1,343 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.
He is within striking distance of virtually every Vanderbilt and SEC career receiving record. Matthews enters the season with 150 career receptions for 2,290 yards and 17 touchdowns.
All CFPA recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams. All players are eligible for awards at their respective positions; players are not preemptively eliminated from consideration. More than 130 CFPA recipients have signed professional contracts, and twenty-one have been first-round NFL Draft selections.
