Nashville - Vanderbilt Head Coach James Franklin announced the rosters for the 2013 Black and Gold Spring Game Thursday. The intrasquad game will be played at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday at Vanderbilt Stadium.

Admission is free to the spring game, but Vanderbilt athletics is asking Commodore fans for donations of gently worn clothes and shoes for Nashville-based charity Soles4Souls.

Franklin, directing his third spring practice on campus after leading the Commodores to back-to-back bowl appearances for the first time in school history, will monitor both squads from the field. Along with the players, Franklin's staff has been divided for the game.

The Black team, guided by offensive coordinator John Donovan, defensive coordinator Bob Shoop and special teams coordinator Charles Bankins, enters the spring game as the more veteran unit. With Austyn Carta-Samuels and Josh Grady quarterbacking, the Black squad features a bevy of starters from the 9-4 Music City Bowl championship team, including wide receivers Jordan Matthews and Chris Boyd, offensive lineman Wesley Johnson, linebackers Chase Garnham and Karl Butler, safeties Kenny Ladler and Javon Marshall, cornerback Andre Hal and kicking specialist Carey Spear.

The Gold team, directed by defensive coordinator Brent Pry, offensive coordinator Ricky Rahne and special teams coordinator George Barlow, will be quarterbacked by Patton Robinette and Johnny McCrary. The team features a lineup of young players that have impressed the staff this spring, including running back Jerron Seymour, linebacker Jake Sealand, defensive linemen Stephen Weatherly and Ladarius Banks, and cornerbacks Torren McGaster and Paris Head.

The Commodores' improving depth has allowed Franklin to split the offensive line. In the team's last two spring games, the offensive line corps donned white jerseys and played for both squads.

Surface parking lots off Natchez Trace will open early Saturday, with the Vandyville tailgate area opening at 10 a.m. A Field Day activity for youngsters involving several Vanderbilt varsity sports will take place from 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Gate 2 of Vanderbilt Stadium will open at 11 a.m., with Star Walk starting at 12 noon. A 15-minute autograph session with Commodore players is slated immediately after the game.

A special Black and Gold Spring Game poster featuring the 2013 schedule, which includes home games against Ole Miss on Thursday, Aug. 29, Austin Peay on Sept. 7, UAB on Sept. 28, Missouri on Oct. 5, Georgia on Oct. 19, Kentucky on Nov. 16 and Wake Forest on Nov. 30, will also be available at the gate (while supplies last).

Season tickets are available for the upcoming season. For more information, go to online or call (615) 322-GOLD (4653).
