Since arriving in Nashville three months ago, Vanderbilt Head Coach Derek Mason has assembled one of the most impressive coaching staffs in the nation. Mason's Commodore coaches includes a former major college head coach, six former coordinators and three mentors coming directly from successful stints in the National Football League.

"Committed & Trained" is a video series that spotlights the personalities, coaching styles and accomplishments of each of Mason's nine assistant coaches. The productions include behind-the-scenes practice footage, student-athlete interviews and talks with each coach. The first edition in the series spotlights Brett Maxie, who will guide the Vanderbilt defensive secondary. Maxie comes to Mason's staff after nearly three decades as a standout safety and coach in the National Football League. Most recently, Maxie served as the Tennessee Titans' defensive backs coach from 2012-13, molding cornerbacks Alterraun Verner and Jason McCourty to breakout seasons. This is Maxie's first coaching position in the collegiate ranks.
