New schedule poster available for fans Saturday at Showcase

March 20, 2017

Fans attending the Vanderbilt Football Spring Showcase this Saturday will be the first to receive the program's 2017 schedule poster.

Created by Vanderbilt Athletics graphic artist Shaun Senn, the poster can be used by fans for the informal autograph session following the Showcase.

The Spring Showcase, which will feature a series of live and limited-contact scrimmages within a two-hour practice, will start at 10 a.m., in Vanderbilt Stadium. The free event will serve as the featured practice of Spring Ball.

The "Conquer & Prevail" poster, developed from images taken by Vanderbilt photographers John Russell and Daniel Dubois at a recent shoot of the team's rising seniors, will be distributed just inside the main gate. Commodore cheerleaders and Mr. C will also be on hand to welcome fans as they enter the stadium.

When the Showcase concludes, all young Commodore fans will be invited to the playing field for a brief autograph session with Vanderbilt players.

Mason and the Commodores get back to work Monday

The Commodores began working toward the Showcase with a full-gear practice early Monday at the John Rich Practice Complex.

After 45 minutes of scheme development, conditioning and position fundamentals, Head Coach Derek Mason capped a practice with two 11-on-11 segments that featured limited contact. Quarterback Kyle Shurmur was impressive in the team drill, finding sophomore Kalija Lipscomb on a deep sideline route for 35 yards on the opening play. Later, he connected with senior Trent Sherfield, sophomore Donaven Tennyson and redshirt freshman Jackson Winrow.

Seniors Tre Herndon and Jonathan Wynn and junior Dare Odeyingbo contributed big plays on defense. Herndon went high to break up a deep pass intended for Sherfield, while Wynn stopped two rushes for short yardage. Odeyingbo continued his solid spring with a quarterback sack.

The Commodores are scheduled to continue preparations for the Showcase with practices this Wednesday and Friday.

Mic'd Up segment with Mason expected on SEC Network Monday

Mason will be featured tonight in a mic'd up all-access feature on the SEC Network. The two-minute segment will air on SEC Now as part of the SEC Network's Spring Football Tour.

A six-person film crew, including SEC Now host Peter Burns and SEC Network analyst and former Vanderbilt quarterback Jordan Rodgers, came to campus last week to shoot a series of interviews and all-access footage from practice.

Season ticket deadline in conjunction with Showcase

The Spring Showcase date also marks the final day for 2016 Commodore season ticket holders to renew their tickets for the upcoming season.

The Commodores host seven games on campus this season, including Southeastern Conference encounters with Alabama (Sept. 23), Georgia (Oct. 7), Kentucky (Nov. 11) and Missouri (Nov. 18). The three non-conference home opponents are Alabama A&M (Sept. 9), Kansas State (Sept. 16) and Western Kentucky (Nov. 4).

Season ticket packages start as low as $148 for a limited general admission seat on the north end zone berm. Reserved seats range from $178 (south end zone sections) to $308 (premium sideline sections).

You can order tickets online, by phone at 615-322-GOLD, or in person at the McGugin Center Ticket Office, located on campus at 2601 Jess Neely Drive.
