Vanderbilt athletic officials have completed their investigation into the actions of its football coaching staff regarding the possible transfer of Maryland student-athlete Danny O'Brien and have forwarded the report to the Southeastern Conference.
Vanderbilt is unable to elaborate or release the conclusion of the report until the SEC reviews and considers its contents.
"We did a thorough review," Vice Chancellor David Williams said upon submitting the report. "We looked closely at months of phone and e-mail records, and Twitter accounts. We interviewed all of our coaches with University of Maryland backgrounds and we also interviewed the student-athlete."
Williams said the study was done internally because the matter would be - at most - a secondary violation.
"Our reputation is our primary concern," Williams said. "We have a long and proud history of playing by the letter and the spirit of the rules. Coach Franklin feels the same way. He and his staff were most cooperative."
O'Brien, who is graduating from Maryland in three years, has been given his transfer release by the Terrapins.
