Commodore fans will have a chance to meet new Head Coach Derek Mason and his football staff prior to the Vanderbilt-Tennessee men's basketball game, scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 5.
The National Signing Day event is scheduled from 5:30-6:30 p.m., in Vanderbilt's newly opened multipurpose facility.
Tipoff for the important Southeastern Conference game between the Commodores and Vols is 7 p.m., in Memorial Gym.
Detailed bios on each member of the 2014 Commodore signing class will be distributed to Vanderbilt followers attending the meet-and-greet with Mason's staff. The event will also serve as an opportunity for Commodore fans to see the $31 million multipurpose facility that opened last November for use by both Vanderbilt athletics teams and members of the university community.
Mason is excited about the upcoming opportunity to get in front of Vanderbilt fans. Since being hired away from Stanford as the 28th head coach in Commodore football history less than two weeks ago, Mason has been busy crisscrossing the United States working to successfully close the team's signing class.
"I can't wait to meet as many fans in black and gold as possible and I want them meeting our coaches," Mason said. "Our fans are going to enjoy getting to know the coaches that will lead the Commodores and mentor our student-athletes for years to come.
"I just want to encourage everyone to come out early next Wednesday, say hello to our staff, and learn more about our signing class. Then, we can all walk over to Memorial Gym and cheer on Coach Stallings' basketball squad," Mason added.
An introduction of Mason's coaching staff also is scheduled at halftime of the Vanderbilt-UT game.
Free parking for the meet-and-greet with Mason's staff is available in the surface lots off Natchez Trace across from the Vanderbilt Track and Field Complex. Additional gameday parking is available on campus in the 25th Avenue Garage.
The indoor facility/multipurpose facility is located just off 25th Avenue and next to the Vanderbilt Recreation Center. The facility is just one block from Memorial Gym.
