Signing Day celebration set for Feb. 6

Jan. 24, 2013

Vanderbilt fans are invited to join Head Coach James Franklin for the annual National Signing Day celebration on Wednesday, Feb. 6th in the Student Life Center on campus.

This will mark the third annual celebration of Franklin's signing classes, which have been ranked among the most impressive in school history. This year's class, currently ranked among the nation's Top 20 by recruiting experts, has the potential to be the program's best collection of signees ever.

During Franklin's tenure, the celebration has been a favorite activity for Commodore gridiron fans. Last year, more than 1,000 Vanderbilt followers joined the head coach at the Student Life Center on 25th Avenue across from Memorial Gym.

Doors for the free event at the Student Life Center, located on 25th Avenue directly across from Memorial Gym, will open at 5:30 p.m. The program is expected to start at 6:30 p.m. Complimentary food and beverages will be provided.

Fans can also park free of charge in the nearby 25th Avenue Garage and Medical Center surface lots across from the team's practice facilities on Natchez Trace.

The program gives fans a unique chance to hear Coach Franklin discuss the newest signees. Adding to the head coach's presentation are video highlights for all of the signees.

“We hope that Vanderbilt fans from across Middle Tennessee come to campus to help us celebrate our newest Commodores,” Vanderbilt Director of Sales and Marketing Steve Walsh said. “This is a great opportunity to kick off the 2013 season.

Vanderbilt fans can also reserve their season tickets for the upcoming season at the event. The Commodores, coming off a 9-4 season and Music City Bowl win that capped a seven-game win streak, will host seven games in Vanderbilt Stadium this year.
