Individual Notes • Vanderbilt offensive coordinator Des Kitchings called the game from the press box for the first time in his career. • Cornerback Casey Hayward is the team’s active leader with 22 consecutive starts.
Defense • T.J. Greenstone’s four first quarter tackles tied a season high (Florida) … Greenstone finished with a season-high 7 tackles … Greenstone finished with 1.5 tackles for loss. • Linebacker John Stokes posted his third double-digit tackle game of the season and first since at Georgia on Oct. 16. • Safety Kenny Ladler had 1.5 tackles for loss.
Offense • Kennard Reeves’ 31-yard carry on VU’s first possession was the longest of his career … His previous long was 22 yards against Rice in 2009. • Reeves finished the game with a career-best 105 yards, topping his previous high of 62 yards against Western Carolina in 2009 … His 19 carries were a career high, topping the 13 rushes he had against Florida on Nov. 6. • Reeves’ 100-yard game was the first by the Commodores since Warren Norman had 111 yards against Ole Miss on Sept. 18. • Eric Samuels had the first rush of his career on Vanderbilt’s first possession and finished with three carries for 17 yards. • Wide receiver Udom Umoh made his first catch in four games on Vanderbilt’s opening possession … The catch converted a third and 10. • Wide receiver Jonathan Krause had a career-long rush of 45 yards on Vanderbilt’s third possession … It was Krause’s fifth rush of the season … His previous best was 44 against UConn on Oct. 2 … Krause is averaging 24.2 yards per carry. • Quarterback Larry Smith’s 52-yard pass to Jonathan Krause in the second quarter was the second longest of the season for Smith … The 52-yard reception was Krause’s longest of his career, topping his 24-yard catch against Northwestern. • Smith’s touchdown rush with 7:25 to play in the first half was Smith’s fourth rushing touchdown of the season and first since Oct. 23 against South Carolina. • Krause finished the game with a season-high 63 yards receiving … His previous high was 55 yards against Northwestern. • Wide receiver Jordan Matthews caught his second touchdown pass in as many weeks when Jared Funk connected with him with 2:33 to play in the game.
Special Teams • Ryan Fowler’s 20-yard field goal with 9:45 to play in the first quarter was his first attempt since Oct. 9 against Eastern Michigan … Fowler is 4-of-5 this season on field goals. • Fowler’s 29-yard field goal at the start of the second quarter marked the first time this season Fowler has made two field goals in a game.
