![]() Several months ago we asked fans to put on their creative hats, have some fun and submit their ideas for naming the naval horn in Vanderbilt Stadium that has been heard for many years. It looks as though you did! We received 84 suggestions and they came from many creative angles; some referenced Cornelius Vanderbilt and his history, others had literary origins, a few played on alliteration, there were nautical ideas, a couple were cynical and yes, one or two were just plain goofy! After reviewing all entries, we agreed that the name of our stadium horn should be one that is easily used in communication, such as "when you hear (name), there are 30 minutes until kickoff." We had a cross section of athletic staff members review all entries and whittled them down to three finalists. Now it's time for the fans to make the final decision. Fans can vote online and there will also be a paper ballot box at Dore Jam on Sunday, August 7. The winner will be announced after votes are tabulated following Dore Jam. The person submitting the winning entry will receive a prize and be credited in the announcement. The three finalists are: The Admiral, The WestEnder, and Old Natchez. The voting has ended. Thanks for your vote! |
