2011: Kevin Threlkel joins Vanderbilt as an offensive administrative assistant after serving with new Commodore Head Coach James Franklin for the past two years at the University of Maryland.
Threlkel, a graduate of Kansas State University, served as program management specialist for the Terrapin football team last year, assisting with day-to-day operations in the department. In addition, he managed correspondence with Maryland Head Coach Ralph Friedgen, compiled the team's daily practice itinerary and was responsible for various aspects regarding donor relations for the 700-member Maryland Gridiron Network.
In 2009, Threlkel joined Maryland as an intern for football operations, helping with team travel and the Maryland Gridiron Network.
The ties between Franklin and Threlkel date back five years when Franklin served as offensive coordinator and quarterback coach at Kansas State. As an undergraduate at K-State, Threlkel tutored under Franklin as an offensive and recruiting assistant. His tasks as a student were widespread, ranging from breaking down opponent film and coordinating recruiting tours, to helping supervise Wildcat football summer camps.
In 2008, Threlkel's efforts in the K-State football program helped him land an internship in athletic development. He was responsible for managing various aspects of K-State's prestigious Mike Ahearn Scholarship Fund. He also assisted various capital campaigns, including an effort for club level suites at the Wildcat baseball complex.
