One of 13 true freshmen to see action for the Commodores, Stewart experienced the most action by a first-year player on the offensive line... Became reliable contributor on OL known as tenacious blocker with excellent work habits... Inserted at center following a midseason injury to offensive co-captain Joey Bailey, Stewart never relinquished the assignment... Saw action at center in last eight games of season, earning six consecutive starts to conclude the year... First career start came against eventual SEC East champion South Carolina... With Stewart at center, the unit showed steady improvement during the second half of season.
Two-year starter... Started at left tackle for 2009 Bulldog squad that went 8-3 and played in powerful Region 2-4A conference... Produced 49 pancake blocks as senior, finishing year with superb 94 percent blocking grade... Named All-Region and All-Area by Spartanburg Herald Journal... Played in 73rd Shriners Bowl of the Carolinas postseason game... As starting RT in 2008, helped Boiling Springs to 8-4 and state playoff berth... Also wrestles and throws shot and discus in track & field... Named to region's all-academic squad.
