Sa'o saw his initial collegiate action as a redshirt freshman, participating in six games as a defensive interior tackle... Registered a tackle in victory over Alabama A&M... Also appeared in reserve role to starting nose tackle Nifae Lealao against Middle Tennessee, Kansas State, Georgia, Missouri and Tennessee.

Sa'o did not play as a true freshman... Served important role during fall practices as interior lineman on defensive scout teams.

High School
Two-year team captain... Started on both sides of the ball (DT and OT) as junior and senior... As senior DT, contributed 102 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, seven QB sacks, four forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries, helping Komets capture Central League title and reach second round of CIF Division IV playoffs... Earned All-League as senior... Participated in two postseason games: the Polynesian All-American Bowl and Spanos Classic All-Star Game.

Last name is pronounced “sah-O”.
