2016 First Team Freshman All-SEC Tight End, Athlon Sports
Pinkney put together another solid year in his second season with the Commodore offense... Played in every game, earning nine starts at tight end... Served as team's top receiving threat among tight end corps... Finished the year virtually matching stats from previous season – 22 receptions, 273 receiving yards, three touchdowns... Posted single-game high with two touchdown catches in early-season win over Alabama A&M, then registered an impressive six-catch, 119-yard receiving performance late in the year against Missouri... Also had three catches in opening win over Middle Tennessee and a pair of key receptions in victory over nationally ranked Kansas State.
As first-year contributor, Pinkney played in every game, providing Commodores with quality receiving threat at tight end position... Earned six starts, including the first of his career in opener against South Carolina... Concluded the season with team's top receiving tight end, hauling in 22 catches, good for 274 yards and two touchdowns, earning Freshman All-SEC honors from Athlon Sports... Posted multiple catches in seven games, including four of the team's final games... Registered seasons highs with five receptions and 50 receiving yards in win over Tennessee State... Played key role as receiver in late-season wins over Ole Miss and Tennessee, combined for 83 receiving yards against those SEC rivals... Contributed touchdown catches against TSU and Auburn.
Pinkney looked to have a bright future at tight end before injuries quickly curtailed his true freshman campaign... After working his way into a playing role after an impressive preseason camp, Pinkney suffered a season-ending injury in the opener against Western Kentucky.
Multiple-year captain and standout WR/HB for one of north Georgia's top public school programs... Received team's "Iron Man" Award after senior season... Earned three varsity letters, helping Blue Devils to 2012 and 2013 Class AAAAAA state titles and playoff appearance in 2014... As senior WR, caught 32 passes for 480 yards and three touchdowns for 7-4 squad, earning honorable mention All-State and First Team All-Region honors... Played in two Georgia postseason all-star games... Earned school's Scholar-Athlete Award.
Jared B. Pinkney... Born Aug. 21, 1997... Lifelong resident of Georgia... Son of Anika Bowles-Pinkney and Horace Pinkney... Older, Jalen, was a freshman defensive end for the Commodores in 2017... Also has a younger sister, Alayna... Mom is an event planner, dad works in restaurant management... Majoring in Communication Studies.
