Michael Hazel Position: Director of Football Operations

Michael Hazel enters his second year as Director of Football Operations for the Vanderbilt football team.

Hazel, a six-year veteran of the Commodore staff, served the 2010 season in the key operations role, maintaining responsibilities for various elements of the football program, including team travel and staff coordination.

Prior to accepting the director of operations position, Hazel previously served five years as assistant director of football operations, and one year as a Commodore defensive graduate assistant.

Hazel was a four-year letterwinner as a linebacker and special teams player for Elon (N.C.) University. During his collegiate playing days, Hazel helped Elon to a 28-16 record as the program transitioned to the I-AA level.

A native of Easley, S.C., Hazel was an eight-time member of the Elon Athletic Director's Honor Roll and a President's list recipient on three occasions.

In 2001, he earned a B.A. in corporate communications from Elon. In 2004, he earned an MBA from Elon. Hazel completed a master's in education from Vanderbilt's Peabody College in 2007.
