Commodores impress in featured practice of Spring Ball

Birchmeier's participation as a redshirt freshman increased as the season endured... Participated on the interior defensive line in six games after missing the first five weeks of action due to injury... Contributed tackles in league play against South Carolina and Tennessee... Earned first collegiate start at South Carolina.


Birchmeier did not see action as a first-year defensive lineman, but impressed coaches and teammates with his physicality and attitude as a solid defensive scout contributor... Birchmeier also was a standout in the weight room.

Senior captain... Four-year starter for large public school located just south of Richmond... Started at DT, TE and OT in career.. Two-time 6A All-State recipient on offense and defense... Named Offensive Player of the Year and All-Metro after senior season... As senior, moved from TE to OT after 0-3 start, helping propel Titans to eight-win season and 6A state quarterfinal appearance... Played in postseason Virginia Prep All-Star Game... Also earned two varsity letters in basketball and baseball... Honors student, selected to county’s Youth Services Citizens Board.
