    Head Athletic Trainer

    Tom Bossung enters his 13th year as head athletic trainer for the Vanderbilt football team and director of the department's athletic training office. Bossung is entering his 17th year assisting Vanderbilt student-athletes. He first came to campus as a graduate assistant in 1990, and earned a master's degree in health promotion and exercise science in 1992.

    After working a year at the Lipscomb Sports Therapy Center and serving two years as the head athletic trainer at Tennessee State, he returned to Vanderbilt in 1995 to work with the men's basketball and women's tennis teams. He moved to the football athletic training post in 1999.

    Bossung, who received his bachelor's degree from Indiana State, is certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association, and licensed by the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners. He has served as a test site administrator and host for NATA certification exams. Bossung also volunteers his time to youth soccer leagues in the Nashville area.

    Tom and his wife, Dee Dee, have two children: Ryan, 18; and Sarah, 14.
