Black & Gold Spring Game

The annual Black & Gold Spring Game for Vanderbilt football will be held at 10 a.m. CT on April 12th in Vanderbilt Stadium. The game will be part of what is a busy weekend of home events for Vanderbilt's athletic teams.

In addition to the football game, Vanderbilt's baseball and men's tennis teams are also at home. The men's tennis team hosts Florida at 4 p.m. Friday and South Carolina at noon Sunday. The baseball squad hosts Texas A&M in a three-game series at Hawkins Field. Friday's game will be at 6:30 p.m. with Saturday starting at 2 p.m. and Sunday's finale at 1 p.m.

Parking
Parking for the game will be available for free in the surface lots located across Natchez Trace from the Vanderbilt Track and Field Complex.

Postgame Autographs
Fans attending the Black & Gold Spring Game are invited onto the field after the game for a 30-minute autograph session with Vanderbilt's coaches and players. Commemorative posters will be available for fans to have signed.

CSS To Televise Game
Vanderbilt's Black & Gold Spring Game will be televised on tape delay by Comcast Sports Southeast (CSS). The game will first air at 6:30 p.m. CT on April 23. Additional airings will be announced at a later date.

Voice of the Commodores, Joe Fisher, will handle the play-by-play duties with CSS co-host Barton Simmons handling the analysis. Dawn Davenport of WKRN Channel 2/ESPNU will report from the sidelines.

Format of Game
The first half of the game will consist of two 12-minute quarters. The third quarter will feature a 10-minute standard clock and the fourth quarter will be played with a 10-minute running clock. Halftime will be 10 minutes.

The offensive players will be on the home sideline, dressed in black helmets, gold jerseys and black pants. The quarterbacks will don green jerseys, so they are easily identified by defenders.

Defensive players will occupy the visiting sideline and will wear gold helmets, black jerseys and black pants.

Scoring
The Spring Game will pit Vanderbilt's offense against its defense, and feature a unique scoring system that enables the offense and defense to score points.

Notable Rules of Game
Every spring game has unique rules when it comes to player contact on certain plays, and this one is no different. Below are specific rules for the game:

Field Position
• All possessions will start on the 35-yard line

Punts
• There will be punts, but no returns are allowed

Timeouts
• Each team will be allowed three timeouts per half

Quarterbacks
• Contact is not permitted
• Defense can run past QB for sack

NCC Tailgate
Following the Black and Gold Spring Game, NCC members are invited to tailgate on the McGugin Center lawn from noon-2 p.m. Walk-ups are welcome for $15 per person, $10 for children ages 6 to 12, and free for children ages 5 and under and also Jr. NCC members. Limited space is available for walk-ups..

Vandyville
Vanderbilt's pregame tailgating area, Vandyville, will be located on Jess Neely Drive, which will be closed to traffic at 6 a.m. April 12.
