Defensive Back | 5'11 | 195
Brentwood Academy | Nashville, Tenn.
Brentwood Academy Head Coach Ralph Potter
"Athletically, Derek is very special. He brings so much speed to the (cornerback) position. Playing here, Derek was one of those rare guys that had a little extra margin of error simply because of his ability to close on the ball.
"Because he's a big, strong kid, Derek brings a lot of physicality to the game. He's going to be a cornerback that can handle press man coverage and can be physical with receivers at the same time.
"As far as character and academics go, he's been a great citizen and student here at Brentwood Academy. Derek has a great future at Vanderbilt."
