McCALLIE HEAD COACH RICK WHITT
"Jay really fits the Vanderbilt mold. He brings everything to the program that Coach Johnson's staff is looking for.
"On the field, Jay is a contact player, very explosive, an athletic guy that can run. He's one of those players that understands what is expected of him as a safety and also knows the roles of other defensive positions. He also leads by example, not real vocal until he needs to be. Jay's just a football player.
"Jay will go about his business the right way at Vanderbilt. He'll bring great effort, work ethic and excellent practice habits to the program. I think he is an ideal fit at Vanderbilt."
