Nigeria native expected to fill the starting role at center

Your thoughts on preseason practice? "It's been going really well. We've been working really hard. We've been working a lot on defense. I think our focus might be more on defense because I feel like we have a lot of guys that are athletic and able to guard."
How different of a team is it this year? "Obviously we lost two key guys, but it's not that different because we have guys that can come in and do the same things that they could. We got better this summer, so there are a lot of guys that can pick it up. We could be even better this year."
Talk about the work that you guys put in this summer. "It was a different feel this summer because our last game in the NCAA Tournament kind of opened our eyes a little bit. I guess we still have that bitter taste in our mouth from that loss, so everyone just wanted to work a whole lot harder to make sure that doesn't happen again."
What do you see as your role on this team? "Roles change every day for us. One day you could be the scorer, the next day you're something else. I really want to be a defensive presence this year-- the big man in the middle.
You came in to the program inexperienced on the court. Are you excited that you're now one of the guys that will be depended on to contribute? "I'm excited. Each year I grow and each year I learn even more. Now, I understand the game a whole lot better. I'm just ready to go out there and show them what I got."
