Getting to know Maxwell Evans

Freshman Maxwell Evans begins his first season with the Commodores this fall and caught up with him to see what he is like off of the floor.  Vanderbilt officially begins practice for the upcoming season later this week.

Favorite NBA team:  Houston Rockets.
The one NBA player you wished was your teammate:  Russell Westbrook.
Age I picked up a basketball:  6.
When I was a kid I tried to be like:  Kobe.
A few words that describe the way I play basketball:  Hard, Aggressive, Smart.
What I need to improve on to be a better player:  Leadership.
The thing that impresses me most about Coach Drew: Passion of the Game.
Favorite part about playing at Memorial Gym: The heat.
Favorite sport other than basketball:  Football.
Favorite musical performer:  Lil Supe.
Favorite movie:  Triple X.
Nobody can believe I watch this TV show:  Cheaters.
Favorite midnight snack: Honeybun.
Favorite thing about myself:  Looks.
Dream Date:  Virgin Islands.
My basketball “dream team” would be:  Westbrook, Jordan, Durant, Ewing, LeBron.
The best tasting food I can make:  Lobster.
My bucket list includes:  Skydiving
Favorite athlete to watch in another sport:  Marshawn Lynch.
Favorite thing to do away from basketball:  Ride dirtbikes.
One thing my hometown is famous for:  Heat.
My best non-athletic talent:  Reading people’s minds.
The person I’d love to trade places with for a day: Meek Mill.
What I would do if I won the lottery:  Take a vacation, buy my family new houses and cars.
Ultimate vacation destination:  Virgin Islands.
The best advice I’ve received (and list who gave it to you):  “Just have fun and always work harder than everyone” – My father.
The most famous person(s) I’ve met:  Shaq.
Biggest influence in my life:  Brother and Father.
Most important thing I’ve learned since coming to Vanderbilt:  Have fun and don’t stress.
My advice to young people is:  Always work hard on what you want to achieve.
I chose to attend Vanderbilt over these schools:  Wake Forest, Houston, Purdue, and Kansas State.  I chose Vanderbilt because of the education and Coach Drew.
Have you had any relatives play college sports?  Brother plays college football at Kansas, sisters play volleyball at Tennessee State.
