Day One: Virgin Islands Tour

Aug. 12, 2017

The Commodores endured an early wake up call Saturday morning and arrived in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, on Saturday afternoon for a six-day tour that includes four games against quality competition and a few excursions to explore some of the U.S. territory in the caribbean.

Early morning wake up
Vanderbilt departed Memorial Gym at 4:15 a.m. CT on Saturday morning for their trip, which began with a 6 a.m. flight to Charlotte.  After a slight delay in Charlotte, the Commodores boarded their plane and arrived in St. Thomas at 2:50 ET.  It should be mentioned here that the islands are on Eastern Time and one hour ahead of Nashville this time of year.

Vanderbilt holds first practice on Island
The Commodores practiced at the University of the Virgin Islands, the site of three of their four games on this week's trip.  It is also the site of where Vanderbilt played in the 2013 Paradise Jam.

Schedule for Sunday
The Commodores will play their first game of the tour Sunday evening against the U.S. Virgin Islands National Team in St. Croix.  Vanderbilt will take a short flight to St. Croix from St. Thomas in the morning and then will tip off at 5 p.m. ET, 4 p.m. CT. Unfortunately, there will be no stream or radio, so stay tuned to vucommodores.com, @VandyMBB on Twitter, @vucommodores on Instagram, and @VandyAthletics on Snapchat.
