The Commodores will begin the NIT Season Tip-Off on Thanksgiving Day, November 23 with a matchup against ACC power Virginia at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., at 3 p.m. CT in a game that will air on ESPNU. Seton Hall and Rhode Island will play in the other matchup after Vanderbilt’s game with Virginia.
The championship/consolation games will take place on November 24 with times and television coverage announced at a later date.
Virginia reached the NCAA Tournament’s second round and finished the 2016-17 season with a 23-11 record and a No. 25 ranking in the AP Poll. The Cavaliers return to Brooklyn, where two Thanksgivings ago Tony Bennett’s team won the 2014 Barclays Center Classic.
The Thanksgiving Day meeting with the Cavaliers will be the seventh all-time meeting between the two schools, with the meeting in Brooklyn the first on a neutral floor. Vanderbilt leads the all-time series, 5-1, with the Commodores winning the last meeting, 61-48, in Charlottesville on December 5, 1995.
